Together with the children, we have come up with the name: ‘The Orchard at WSG’ for our wraparound care provisionto reflect the fact that all of our classes are named after trees and this provision is for all of our children from ‘Saplings to Oaks’!
What is wraparound childcare?
“Wraparound childcare is before and after school care for primary school aged children (4-11) in England during term time, such as regular afterschool provision that runs until 6pm or later. The childcare should be available every school day outside of regular school hours and is aimed at helping parents access more childcare and work the hours they want to. This is different from out-of-school activities, or school clubs, which are less frequent and can be a one-off activity.” (Department for Education)
Timings:
After school wraparound care runs from Monday – Friday from 3.15pm to 6.00pm with the option of collecting at any point between these times.
The costs for these sessions are:
| Session Times | Cost |
| 3.15pm-4.15pm | £5.00 |
| 4.15pm – 5.15pm | £5.00 |
| 5.15pm – 6.00pm £5.00 | £5.00 |
NB: You will still be able to book an external club from 3.15-4.15 and then book into Wraparound Care from 4.15pm. (Any external specialist clubs that you would like your child to attend (ie Art Club or Wild at Heart) will not be included in this cost). Included in the cost will be a healthy snack and a choice of indoor and outdoor activities – Playground, Scooters, Colouring, Lego, Kapla blocks, etc.
Bookings:
Booking can be made on Arbor and can be on an ad-hoc basis (as it is for Breakfast Club) but we appreciate families booking as far in advance as you can!
NB: If you have a child in Nursery and require wraparound care, please contact the school office so we can determine your needs and staff the provision accordingly. Nursery aged children cannot be booked in on an ad-hoc basis due to staff ratio requirements.
Financial Support:
Parents and guardians will pay their wraparound childcare provider directly for their child’s place. Households eligible for Tax-Free Childcare or Universal Credit Childcare will be able to use the support to help pay for wraparound care. Tax-Free Childcare could save eligible parents up to £2,000 per year for children aged up to 11, or £4,000 per year for children aged up to 17 with disabilities. Universal Credit Childcare could save eligible parents up to 85% of their childcare costs for children aged up to 16. Parents may also be able to get help with their initial upfront childcare costs.
