We are a HeartSmart School!
HeartSmart is a creative approach that we use to build character, emotional health and resilience in children. Equipping children with foundational principles and skills that will improve their mental health and relationships and academic achievement, at WSG, we want everyone to know that they are loved, cared for and valued. We recognise the value of educating the heart alongside educating the mind. We use HeartSmart to do just that!
Here are some fun phrases that are part of the HeartSmart program and we are sure you'll start hearing them in your home as well. They're called the HeartSmart High Five and here's a brief overview:
You may hear about BORIS the Robot. He visited our school in a special film in September. Made from bits and bobs of recycled rubbish, he plays an important role in HeartSmart. In school, we follow his story of learning not to listen to the Scrapman's voice (who says that he belongs on the scrapheap) through reading and referring to the book, Boris the Robot.
