The world's first-ever live assembly from Antarctica!

We were thrilled to be invited by Picture News, in collaboration with 2041 Schools and Robert Swan OBE, to join the world's first-ever live broadcast to over 5,000 schools from Antarctica! ❄️

Our children joined schools from all around the world for a (never done before!) live video call with renowned polar explorer Robert Swan — speaking to us directly from Antarctica. The children were captivated as we learned about this extraordinary continent and discovered what we can do to help protect it as part of Project 2041. It was an unforgettable moment of global connection and environmental inspiration - we are very excited to become Antarctica Champions!

Streaming 600 miles away from the South Pole, Robert Swan shared his stories from the ice, discussed the importance of protecting our planet’s frozen continent, and inspired young people everywhere to become champions for Antarctica. He even introduced the first teddy to ever visit Antarctica - Teddy, who is 40 years old!

Robert Swan is the first person in history to walk both the North and South Poles, and is well-known for his Antarctica advocacy and adventures. We were also joined by Jenny Cooke, who founded the Antarctica charity, 2041 Schools, and is an Antarctica advocate.

    The Voice of Antarctica

The assembly featured a film of Antarctica herself (voiced by Dame Joanna Lumley) - showcasing the delicate snowfall, crackling ice, and ferocious waves on the continent.

Dame Joanna Lumley DBE FRGS shared the following message to the 5,000+ schools who attended the assembly:

Congratulations on joining the first ever live assembly from Union Glacier, Antarctica. By becoming Champions of Antarctica, you are helping to protect one of the most magical and fragile places on Earth. Your commitment truly matters.”
