Responding

Zechariah and Elizabeth had hoped and prayed for what they so desperately wanted, but most of all they wanted to serve God and live his way.

The prayer at the end of our worship today is part of the ancient morning prayer of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It reminds us that we can ask God to be with us, to guide us and to protect us in all that we do and say throughout the day ahead.

THE MORNING PRAYER OF ST PATRICK

I arise today

Through the strength of God to lead me;

God’s might to uphold me,

God’s wisdom to guide me,

God’s eye to look before me,

God’s word to speak for me,

God’s hand to guard me,

God’s way to lie before me,

God’s shield to protect me,

God’s angels to save me.

Friend and Saviour.

Amen.
