School Admissions

Here at Wimborne St Giles we are pleased to have one of the largest catchments areas in Dorset.  Our school has school places available for Nursery, Reception and for other year groups and we welcome children from a wide range of Dorset towns and villages.  The village is 2 miles from Cranborne, 3.2 miles from Woodlands, 5 miles from Sixpenny Handley and 5.1 miles from Verwood. There is no requirement to live in the village area to attend the school.

If you are looking for a school place, please phone Mrs Bates or Mrs Ross in the school office on 01725 517347 to arrange a visit with the Head Teacher or to find out when the next Open Mornings are held to learn more about our wonderful school.

In Year Admissions

a.       Applications for in year admission may be submitted at any time during the school year.

b.       The School is part of the LA’s in-year co-ordination scheme.  Any person wishing to apply for a place at the School in-year will need to contact the LA for an application form and a supplementary information form if required.  Further details in respect of in-year applications is available from the School office or from the School website.

c.       The LA will liaise with the School on receipt of any in-year application so that it may be processed in accordance with the School’s admission arrangements.

The governors of voluntary aided maintained schools (previously VC and VA) are their school’s ‘admissions authority’. Every year ‘admissions authorities’ must produce their school’s admissions arrangements (Admissions Policy) for the academic year which is two years ahead of the current school year.
