Addition and Subtraction

In Year 1, we have been subtracting within 10. We have explored lots of different methods including crossing out, using a number-line, counting objects and creating number stories. As we are becoming in experts in both addition and subtraction now, we have looked at subtraction and addition families! We can use just three numbers to create four number equations!

In Year 2, we have been exploring subtraction with renaming (borrowing)! We have used both partitioning and the column method to solve these two-digit problems. We have begun to apply what we have learnt to solve word problems.
