Our Topic about Ancient Egypt
At the start of term we were excited to find the River Nile flowing over a display board in the classroom. We also found a new role play area full of interesting books and pictures about Ancient Egypt. On Friday a telegram arrived asking us to help Howard Carter to search The Valley of the Kings and to make reports. This was our topic for the next 6 weeks. To help us appreciate just how far back in time we need to go we have a useful time machine!
Our Egyptian topic expanded with a full display of items linked to the River Nile. Many 3D exhibits were created by the children and their families as part of an extended Home Learning task. The friendly crocodiles now swim and bathe beside the ancient temple. Tourists can pause in the shade of a tall palm tree and items of interest can be seen at every turn. During the last week of the first half term we put together a presentation for parents which included songs, dance and an array of interesting facts about Egypt over thousands of years. Some of our work will remain on display in school for everyone to share in the coming weeks.
