10th October: Being a Peacemaker

Today Worship Team shared the story of Martin Luther King Jr. 

We welcomed everyone to worship by lighting the candle. We then shared this video called 'Dream On':Dr Martin Luther King - 'Dream on' - BBC Teach

After the video we asked the children to think about how Martin Luther King helped to change the world and how his faith helped him. We wondered how Martin Luther King followed the example Jesus set in this Bible verse.

 ^‘If someone does wrong to you, do not pay him back by doing wrong to him. Try to do what everyone thinks is right.  Do your best to live in peace with everyone.’

Romans 12: 17-18

We asked which of our values Martin Luther King was showing when he talked about freedom. We decided that it was 'Hope' because of the way he embraced justice.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is error, the truth; where there is doubt, the faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
