  • Comic Relief Dance Challenge

    Fri 18 Mar 2022

Wow, wow, wow,  WSG! What an epic Red Nose Day we have just had! We literally danced all day in relays without stopping, from drop off to pick up - all to raise money for Comic Relief! Thank you so much to everyone for your donations, supporting us and cheering us on, we could not have done it without you! A massive well done to all of our amazing children at school and those at home who were able to join us virtually too! We witnessed some very impressive dance moves throughout the day and you did not stop smiling!
A huge thank you to the Cook family too for the bake sale at the end of the day, which managed to raise £118! We haven’t added the final total yet, but it looks like we smashed our fundraising target - with all the money going to children and families that need it the most, including those seeking refuge from the conflict in Ukraine. We honestly could not be prouder of you all. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • International Womenโ€™s Day

    Wed 09 Mar 2022

We celebrated International Women’s day today by exploring the amazing life and legacy of Wangari Maathai. We learned how Wangari dedicated her life to protecting the environment and supporting women by setting up an organisation called the Green Belt Movement to encourage women to plant millions of trees throughout Kenya. Among her many achievements throughout her life, Wangari was the first woman in Africa to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for her work. Since the Green Belt Movement began, over 40 million trees have been planted all over Kenya.

Wangari has also inspired many people from across the world to fight for green spaces in their own communities.

‘It’s the little things citizens do.
That’s what will make the difference.’
    - Wangari Maathai

  • Giving Hope to our local community

    Fri 04 Mar 2022

This term,  we have been thinking about how we can bring Hope to our local and global community. This afternoon, we walked around the village and left the stones that we have painted with messages of hope and love for others to find. ๐Ÿ˜Š #BringHope #SmallSchoolBigHeart #TogetherWeGive

  • World Book Day 2022

    Thu 03 Mar 2022

We celebrated the 25th anniversary of World Book Day – with the message for all children ‘you are a reader‘! The children looked fantastic, dressed as either their favourite book characters or in their pajamas with their favourite bedtime story. We celebrated reading for pleasure and joined an exciting line up of  World Book Day book authors – including Children’s Laureate Cressida Cowell -  for a live lesson.

In light of the refugee crisis currently taking place in Ukraine, the children wanted to try and do their bit to help those most in need. In return for coming to school dressed as a book character, they each made a monetary donation which will be given to the charity 'Choose Love' who are supporting projects providing vital aid and services to those still in and fleeing the country, including: emergency medical care, food, shelter, clothes and mental health support.
